Shelley Adamo

Dr. Shelley Adamo is a full professor at Dalhousie University. She is an internationally recognized expert in the fields of ecoimmunology and parasitic manipulation of behaviour.  Her research is widely cited, and has been downloaded over 85,000 times.  She is the fourth most highly cited researcher in the field of ecoimmunology.  Her work has shaped both fields, and for this reason is cited in a number of textbooks.  She has been invited to speak at national and international meetings, workshops and universities.

She has a wide range of scientific experience and has worked in both the lab and field. She has sat on Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC) grant and scholarship panels and recently won the Wardle Award for outstanding work in parasitology. The Adamo lab has stable research funding from NSERC.

Dr. Adamo is also committed to training the next generation of scientists.  She was selected as an "Outstanding Mentor" at Dalhousie University.  She has published papers on how to support women in science (e.g. Attrition of Women in the Biological Sciences:  Workload, motherhood and other explanations revisited" in BioSciences).
